Organisation description: L'Escale Champion Group is a group for the community that allows members of the group to learn and experience things that they unable to experience and to create a more cohesion for the community and to make an improvement in the community. Our goal is to unite our community and to allow them to have a brighter future. What we intend to do is to set up meetings that covers variety of topics that will cover their needs and we will organise Healthy Living workshops which will be held in a hired room, the workshop will be delivered by health expert. We will also organise fun and leisure activities with families which will create community cohesion and reduce members isolation. By running this project participants will increase healthy living awareness, and increase participation into our activities as volunteers and thus encourage them fuller involvement in public activities. We will also promote positive and healthier lifestyles as more families come together and participate in joint free exercises and learning about healthy living. The group works with variety of group ages between 4+ of all different ethnic backgrounds. It is also a way to keep them busy and to prevent them for making them a mistake that they will be yet to regret. As a community we need to stick together no matter what. Every single day there are new changes being made and there is a massive difference to the times back in the day and to now. Things such as technology has made a huge change in our everyday lives, children are being exposed to practically everything and there are many things that parents are unaware about due to the lack of communication. Our objective behind this that we are enable to transform the quality of life for each individuals and communities, hopefully everything we plan to do for the Salford community has a significant impact on people’s health and for the entire community in Salford.
Other support description: L'Escale Champion Group did a assessment of what we thought was needed by the community. We found that there was a lack of innovative activities in which young people and families could participate in. During this assessment four major needs were identified. These needs are: the need for understand healthy shopping; the need to participate in exercise and understanding food labels. In addition, there has been a lack of support and social isolation for young people and adults in the community. The issues above have been at the centre of discussion. We also found out that many people showed a lack of skills when it came to using social media such as Facebook and twitter and sending and receiving e-mails.We support young children who find it difficult to read and write to boost their confidence.
We also include social activities for all our members including families.
