Description:

Are you interested in supporting families whilst gaining new skills and being a valued member of a welcoming team? We are looking for warm, supportive, and friendly people to join our new Family Hub volunteering team!

Some of the activities that you could help us to deliver include:
• Stay, Play and Learn
• Baby Socials
• Young Parents Groups
• Baby Massage
• Family Hub Reception Support
• Midwife support and more!

You would be volunteering alongside partners from Salford City Council, NHS, Salford CVS, and community groups and organisations. Volunteers will engage with families and help them get the most out of activities.

Examples of some activities that volunteers may carry out include:
• Greeting families and making them feel welcome
• Registering first-time families
• Taking attendance at the groups
• Helping session leaders and supporting families
• Helping to layout, set up, and pack down spaces and rooms
• Handing out and collecting toys
• Keeping spaces clean and tidy
• Signposting other Family Hubs activities
• Answering questions about Family Hubs

Full training and ongoing support will be provided for volunteers, including Child Safeguarding Training, activity briefings, and working with a volunteer coordinator throughout.

What is the duration of the volunteering opportunity?: Long term
Skills and qualifications that may be needed or developed:

No formal qualifications are needed to be a Family Hub Volunteer.
Volunteers will need to be DBS checked and receive Child Safeguarding Training, which will be provided by Salford CVS.
Skills and experience which would be beneficial to Family Hub Volunteers include:
-Good writing and reading skills
-Good communication and listening skills
-Understand the importance of confidentiality
-Enjoys interacting with people from a wide range of backgrounds
-Experience with children, young people or families
