The church of St. Mary the Virgin, Ellenbrook is part of the Worsley St. Mark’s Team Ministry, belonging to the Church of England in the Diocese of Manchester.
St. Mary’s is the village church, often known affectionately as Ellenbrook church. She’s been around since 1723 but our history books tell us that there has been a Christian place of worship on this site for 800 years.
We see the church as an extension of our own home and welcome people accordingly. Hospitality really matters. The kettle is usually on.
Good, loving relationships, within and without, are an absolute priority based on the words of the Greatest Commandment that we are to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and we are to love our neighbour as ourselves. We recognise that ‘our neighbour’ refers to all human beings. We aim to be a blessing to our community through service and support. We offer opportunities to all to worship, including marking life events (such as weddings and funerals), and provide support and service to all members of the community through social and support events (e.g. Singing for Tots, Lunch and Chat, Art and Craft groups, community health sessions, Household Gym and many more), and individual support and befriending.
Meeting space may be available by negotiation (enquiries welcome but space and availability not guaranteed) and consists of the main church building plus a small meeting area with limited kitchen facilities. There may be no charge (subject to negotiation) but donations are appreciated.
