Youth Voice Census 2024

This year GMCA are is proud to support the national Youth Voice Census survey by Youth Employment UK.

The census targets young people aged 11-30, covering a wider population than programme specific surveys currently in place, thus providing a longer-term view of different experiences and additional context to our existing engagements. There are also GM specific questions about local priorities.

The national Youth Voice Census is produced by Youth Employment UK and is now in its 7th year,  providing an annual temperature check on how young people in the UK feel about life, study, work and general prospects. Last year over 4000 young people participated, and the findings were presented to over 150 MPs, helping to create a backbone of big data evidence for improving policy and youth support in the UK.

The survey covers questions about:

  • Transport and Safety
  • Digital Inclusion
  • Transition experience (primary to secondary, school to post 16 and work)
  • Careers support
  • Employers
  • DWP and benefits
  • Wellbeing
  • Voluntary and extracurricular activity

The survey remains open until 7th June and the findings will be published at a national launch on 18th September, at which point we will be sharing our GM level data and using it to inform our plans for young people going forward.
