Salford Family Hubs

Broughton Hub
Salford CVS is working in partnership with the new Family Hubs in Salford. Family Hubs are Early Help centres based in your local community, offering universal support and services for children, young people and families aged 0-19 (and up to 25 if the young person has SEND). Services offered include antenatal, child’s health, early help, parenting support, baby socials and more.

Along with four Family Hubs in different neighbourhoods, we also have six Youth Centres, which offer a wide range of services including youth clubs, drop-in services, project work, youth forums, and more.

We want the Family Hubs to have a real presence and involvement from their local community groups and services. There are various benefits of working with the Family Hubs, including but not limited to room hire space, advertising opportunities, sharing information about your group with Early Help Teams, and more.  We are also supporting the development of a volunteering programme within the Family Hubs.

We:

  • Operate a social prescribing model working with parents/carers, including fathers, young parents, and parents from communities of identity (i.e. grandparents, carers, LGBTQ parents, ethnic minority, disability)
  • Support parents/carers to feel more connected to their community, more confident and less isolated by linking them into their local community assets e.g. Family hub activities, Voluntary Community Social Enterprise (VCSE) groups or signposting to other support and services
  • Consider their strengths and interests and support the parent/carer to achieve their outcomes.
  • Address the needs of parents/carers in a holistic way (non-medical and non-clinical) to help improve their health and wellbeing
  • Support parents/carers for up to eight sessions

The Wishing Tree Project

The Wishing Tree Project was part of the Family Hub work done by Salford CVS in partnership with the Lowry and The Salford Family Hub Partnership to consult with and engage children, young people and families.  The Seeds of Change box was an art installation developed by The Lowry Young Parents Group and a local artist. The box toured from August 22 to March 23.

People were invited to write on a tag, what they wish to access, share and change for families in Salford, then they are posted into the box. There were 384 wishes posted into the box which was displayed in 13 different venues. A tree was built with all the wishes displayed and exhibited at The Lowry.
