Age UK’s new report looks at how older people are coping with the rising cost of living, especially higher energy bills. It’s based on a survey of people aged 66 and over and shows how many are struggling to make ends meet.
The report talks about the tough choices older people are making - like using less heating, buying less food, or going without other essentials - just to stay out of debt. Some groups, such as those on low incomes, carers, and renters, are finding things even harder.
Age UK is calling on the government to do more to help. To find out more about what older people are going through and what support is needed, you can read the full report here: Age UK Cost of Living Report (March 2025).
