Salford CVS Hub volunteers

Salford CVS are developing a network of volunteers in partnership with Salford Family Hubs and Early Help Service to provide additional support to the Family Hubs and enhance the services offered to local Parents Carers and Children.

Take a look at the many roles we have to offer.

What are Family Hubs?

Family Hubs are Early Help centres based in your local community, offering support and services for children, young people and families aged 0-25. Services offered include antenatal, child’s health, early help, parenting support, baby socials and more. Along with four Family Hubs in different neighbourhoods in Salford, we also have six Youth Centres, which offer a wide range of services including youth clubs, drop-in programmes, project work, youth forums, and more.

Volunteering

We want the Family Hubs to have a real presence in the local community, and we want local communities to feel proud and involved with their local hubs. The best way of achieving this is through working with local volunteers and local community groups. We want to bring the amazing skills and services that exist in Salford into the Hubs and use them to offer people and groups a place to meet, work, and collaborate together for their communities. Salford CVS Family Hub Volunteers are people from all walks of life and backgrounds. Very often our volunteers are from the local area. Through helping others who come to the Family Hubs they create an environment where the community are supporting the community.

A big part of being a Family Hub Volunteer involves being able to listen to parents and carers about their problems and provide non-judgmental support. This enables them to identify families who may benefit from external support and help to connect them to these services. Our volunteers create a warm safe and friendly environment for parents, carers and their children to play in. This supports children to grow in confidence with their speech and their social interaction with the other children. Helping others as a Salford CVS Family Hub Volunteer can help to create a feeling that you are giving something back to the community, building friendships and making a real difference to the lives of families in the area. It is also a way to build confidence and experience enabling volunteers to progress personally and professionally.
