The only Greater Manchester-wide awards for our whole health and care workforce are back again for their sixth year.
The Greater Manchester Health and Care Champion Awards are organised by NHS Greater Manchester (NHS GM), with support from the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham. They were established back in 2018 and continue to grow, receiving a huge number of nominations recognising the outstanding, innovative work going on across Greater Manchester in health and care.
This year there are 14 categories to choose from including regular favourites like the Community Champion and Rising Star, as well as a new category, Green Initiative of the Year. This new award category recognises inspirational projects contributing to tackling climate change while enhancing health and care services for patients and the public.
Last year’s winners included nurses, doctors, social care support workers, a hospital chef, as well as the founder of a bereavement choir supporting those affected by suicide.
Winners will be celebrated at a celebration event in July 2025.
Nomination process
Nominations close on Tuesday 11th March 2025. The awards are open to all individuals or teams, paid or unpaid, who work in the health or care sector in Greater Manchester or through their broader work help improve the health and wellbeing of others.
Nominations can be completed by anyone who wishes to see an individual or team’s hard work recognised. Members of public can say a special thank you by nominating in our People’s Champion category, which is open for patients and service users only.
