The online world brings lots of opportunities and enables us access to a wealth of information. Unfortunately, there is a dark side that can expose people to risks and harms. The tragic murder of Brianna Ghey highlighted some of the online harms that young people and adults can be exposed to. We are holding this Spotlight Briefing session to explore this topic in more detail.
Terry Franke – E-Safety Specialist / CEOP Education Ambassador will be presenting to explain his role, highlight online resources, current areas of online risks affecting adults, the law around sharing images and how to have them removed, the dark web and criminal use of A.I. (Artificial Intelligence).
Hollie Bowker, Cyber Prevent Officer for GMP will also be presenting and she will cover:
- Knowledge and understanding of the Computer Misuse Act 1990
- Explaining the different types of cyber ‘dependent’ crimes
- Knowledge and consequences of actions
- Interesting and legal ways to use and develop cyber skills
- Working with those on the periphery of committing cybercrime / those who may have committed cybercrime and diverting them to more positive activities
- Support for people at risk of committing cybercrime and how to access it.
Who should attend?
This session is aimed at multi-agency professionals who come into contact with young people and adults as part of their work such as social care staff, health professionals, mental health professionals, housing and the community and voluntary sector.
