The Big Conversation: how your voice influenced the Greater Manchester (GM) Integrated Care Partnership (ICP) five year plan
When the GM ICP started to develop the five year strategy for health and care, they wanted to make sure people and communities had the chance to be involved. A Big Conversation took place which was led by the VCSE sector in GM. This enabled us to reach deep into communities and involve underserved and inclusion health groups to find out what matters most to them.
Throughout the last 12 months, NHS GM and VCSE sector partners spoke to more than 3,000 people, including those from 2,000 underserved communities – like asylum seekers, refugees, homelessness – and collected more than 10,000 comments and views. From these conversations, there were five themes that came through:
- Concerns over funding and staffing levels
- The problems over accessing GP appointments and hospital waiting times
- A demand for more personalised care, not one-size-fits-all
- Better partnership working with the voluntary, community, social enterprise and faith sector
- More action towards preventing people from falling ill
We have made sure our plans reflect these views and summarised what we have done – a “you said, we did” - in response to this feedback on our website.
