OPEN CALL! £10,000 commission for a light artwork to show at two light festivals in one city – Salford, UK. Quays Culture are co-commissioning a light artwork with RHS for this year's Lightwaves Salford and RHS Glow, this is an amazing opportunity for artists working with lights.

Emma Monton Studio call for local artists

Emma Monton Studio are excited to announce that they are seeking incredible local artists to be part of the Emma Evans Gallery. The artwork submitted should focus on themes of locality and community and can be created using any medium. Selected works will be exhibited as part of an art show launching on September 23rd and will be on display until October 20th. 

The exhibition will open on September 23rd and will run until October 20th. Application deadline is Saturday August 31st.

Are you 16-25, working-class, and interested in archives and community histories? WCML is looking for young people to take part in a series of workshops centred on our archives of the 70s organising group, Big Flame. Over the course of the workshops, you’ll learn more about Big Flame and their legacy, speak to today’s activists and community organisers about successful campaigning, work hands-on with our archives to co-curate an exhibition, and learn to conduct oral histories with past members of Big Flame. All trips out are paid for, your travel fare is covered, and food will be provided. 

The sessions will run every other Saturday beginning on 28th September and wrapping up in May/June 2025. Sign up here

Salford Creative Mixer      

Image removed.Salford Creative Mixer is the first in a series of events happening across Salford over the next 6 months for creatives living and or working in the city.

The first event will take place at Islington Mill on Wednesday 28th August, 6pm – 9pm. Whether you are flying solo as a freelancer, part of an organisation, just starting out, a seasoned pro or someone who shares a passion for the arts, this will be a perfect opportunity to meet like-minded people and make new connections. We will also be asking you to tell us what you need to live, thrive and sustain your work as a creative in Salford so we can start to develop a network of support that works for you. There will be free food & drinks from Mirage Bar and Deli Llama Whole Food Cafe with entertainment from local talent R’Monah and Mistique (DJ)
