Opportunity hosted by: Pure Insight
Description:

Pure Insight work with young people leaving care (children's home or foster care). Together we tackle any issues the young person may be facing, celebrate achievements along the way and support those first steps into adulthood when support is so important, but so often lacking for care leavers. Activities are loads of fun, but also a vital part of building up experiences, soft skills, managing risk, relationship building and challenge in our young people who don't have the benefit of experiences other young people have. It's also brilliant for overall resilience and mental health.

Our activity volunteers support our activities across Cheshire East and Stockport. Our young people might be climbing, kayaking, playing football or simply going for a relaxing and uplifting group walk. You'll be a present adult there, helping out, getting involved, offering moral support and encouragement, and sometimes offering lifts.

This role is ideal for people wanting to help support care experienced young people, but don't feel able to commit to becoming a mentor. We're looking for people to offer ad-hoc support, to support our young people age 16-28 (usually aged 17 - early 20s) who need reliable, supportive adults to be there, and to offer practical and emotional support too, as this stuff can bring challenges!

You don't need any skills and qualifications for this role - we need empathy, energy and an understanding of boundaries - anyone who is able to be a good role model for our young person. If you can give us that, we'll offer you the training you need to develop the right skills and understanding.

We'll need to DBS check you, if you drive young people then we'll see your drivers licence - and there's a little training involved. The training interesting and relevant, and is usually delivered in person, in a short session at your convenience.
