The city’s social enterprises and social enterprise support providers are working together to:

  • Preserve and promote the heritage of Salford’s social businesses
  • Support existing social enterprises to scale, replicate and develop sustainable business models
  • Encourage new social enterprises, new models of social business and new social entrepreneurs

Salford has a range of sizeable social enterprises tackling a variety of social issues, including some that have developed from scratch and others that have spun out from the public sector. There are a significant number of smaller enterprises, both more established and start-ups.

Salford Sup and Palaver

Part of Salford Social Enterprise City's grassroots work is encouraging people to explore social enterprises as an alternative structure for their business model.

Every quarter there is an informal networking event called Salford Sup, which is an opportunity for social enterprises to network, meet social enterprise supporters and a chance to pitch for social enterprise seed funding.

Salford Palaver is an opportunity to meet and network with other social entrepreneurs and social enterprise supporters to discuss relevant topics. This held throughout the year.
