Help Keep Re:Play Sustainability Studio Open

Crowdfunder Launches to Support Salford’s only creative, Sustainability Studio

Re:Play, Salford’s one-of-a-kind Sustainability Studio has launched a Crowdfunding campaign on January 10th to secure funding that will keep its doors open, and its creative, eco-friendly workshops running for the local community. Located at Quayside MediaCity, Re:Play transforms household waste into hands-on workshops that inspire creativity, sustainability, and community
connection.

For the past three months, Re:Play has been funded by Recycle for Greater Manchester and supported by Salford Loading. Originally planned as a short-term initiative, the educational, creative, and sustainable impact has been so profound that the team at Re:Play cannot bear to see the project close its doors. “Re:Play isn’t just about crafts,” says Fay Watts, Co-Director at Take Action Together, the female led Community Interest Company that launched Re:Play in October 2024, “It’s about rethinking waste, inspiring future generations to tackle the climate crisis, and building a stronger, greener community in Salford.” Another Co-Director, Ema Couteleau-Charlton adds “We've seen first-hand the impact that this project has had in such a short space of time, and we
really don't want to close the doors this soon. Every pledge, no matter the size, helps us keep this vital resource alive.”

The Challenge

Despite its success, Re:Play faces funding challenges that threaten its future. The studio needs to raise £3,500 through its Crowdfunder campaign to unlock further funding from Crowdfund Salford. This total will ensure Re:Play can continue running for another three months, covering essential costs like staffing, utilities, and materials. The three-month period (mid-February to mid-May) will also allow Re:Play to focus on applying for longer-term funding, strengthen partnerships with local businesses, and develop sustainable plans to secure the studio's future beyond the Crowdfunder campaign.

What Re:Play Offers
Re:Play provides weekly workshops for:

  • Families looking to learn about sustainability through fun, hands-on activities
  • Schools seeking curriculum-aligned sessions on recycling and climate awareness
  • Home-educated children who thrive in creative, interactive learning environments
  • SEND children and groups benefiting from inclusive, therapeutic activities
  • Anyone who believes in the power of creativity and the importance of sustainability for
    our planet.

The studio also works with local businesses to divert waste that would otherwise go to landfill and encourages residents to donate household waste. By turning these materials into educational and creative resources, Re:Play helps the community see waste in a new, reusable light.

How to Help

The Crowdfunder campaign will be running from January 10th up until midnight on February 7th, and offers a variety of rewards for supporters, including:

The Impact

Every donation supports Re:Play’s mission to work with local businesses to divert waste, encourage Salford residents to reuse and repurpose household materials, and foster a culture of sustainability and creativity. By keeping the studio open, Re:Play will continue to inspire environmental awareness and community connection through hands-on workshops and educational activities.

This funding will also give Re:Play the time needed to secure a longer-term funding arrangement and develop new partnerships to ensure the studio remains a vital part of the Salford community.
