Organisation description: Folly Lane Amateur Rugby League Football Club was formed just after the Second World War in 1949. They began playing on a pitch by an old sewage works on Folly Lane in Swinton accordingly adopting the name Folly Lane Rugby Club. In 1955 it was decided to run a junior team separately from the open age team and an under 18's team called Folly Juniors was formed. With a new name, the juniors moved to the Blue Ribbon Playing fields, which is where the club plays today. As time moved on and the club progressed, the junior tag was dropped and the open age team joined back with the juniors at the Blue Ribbon and once again became known as Folly Lane. This period saw all teams both junior and open age level, move into the Northwest Counties leagues. It was from this period that Folly Lane began stamping their presence on Northern rugby league and wave after wave of trophies and honours came to Folly along with the club producing many professional players.
In 2000 Folly Lane was given permission by the local council to use the coat of arms of the borough of Swinton as its club badge. This coat of arms goes back over two hundred years and it is with great pride that Folly Lane ARLFC will be the only club allowed to display it on their kits and use it as the club emblem.
In 2006 2007 & 2010 we ran successful tours for the Under 11's to France, to coincide with the Salford Reds fixture against Catalan Dragons.
In 2008 we became the first rugby league team to send a touring Under 18s team to the Czech Republic to support the Czech RL efforts to grow the game in central Europe. We then returned in 2010 for another successful tour.
We have teams from under 7s to open age as well as a holding group for 3 - 6 year olds
we are look for help during the Covid 19 crisis because we are finding it difficult to pay for the upkeep of the club and playing fields.
we have no revenue coming in to the club at the minute however we still have utility bills, weekly grass cutting to undertake and we need HELP, if you could please guide/support us to any funding opportunities we would be grateful.
we have a vast geographical area that we cover with the children + adults that play for the club, they come from all over the Salford area.
