Organisation description: Manchester Community Walking Football Club was created in April 2017 taking over from a successful ALFA Sports programme that operated from 2015. The club has been created by group of players wanting to get more involved, hence a committee was created that overseas the entire management of the club. The club continues to recruit volunteers and aims to support their development through social inclusiveness and training courses/qualifications.
The club now numbers over 85 registered members that take part in Walking Football sessions at Indoor and Outdoor Sports venues across Greater Manchester.
Presently, there are sessions at Salford Sports Village, Irlam Leisure Centre and the Wythenshawe Forum Centre in South Manchester, and hope to plan more sessions over the coming year. Manchester Community Walking Football Club sessions are open access, and are especially aimed at over 50’s and those with pre-existing medical health conditions that would improve physical and mental well-being. In addition, walking football is fun and socially inclusive. So if you want to get active, have fun and meet new people, a warm welcome awaits at the Manchester Community Walking Football Club.
