Organisation description: Short Supply is a community interest company based in Salford who create opportunities for emerging and mid-career artists in the North-west and nationally, producing exhibitions, commissions, competitions, talks and workshops that address the barriers creatives face to employment and education. They work directly with artists and arts organisations and increasingly with other commercial organisations who want to be involved in the creative industries.
Short Supply’s mission is to address the barriers emerging artists’ face to education, employment and good mental health by bridging the gap between them and professional opportunities.
This aim is at the heart of every event, mentorship session, podcast episode, talk, workshop, brew and chat.
Through the provision of must-have skills and a supportive network, we empower communities of artists to collaborate and pursue their own goals, instigating social change by acknowledging the power of collective working. We treat artists as professionals, creating platforms for their work to increase employment opportunities.
