Organisation description: We are a beginner running and walking club with 11 clubs based in Manchester. We have 27 volunteer running coaches and 5 freelance advanced personal trainers delivering beginner running and walking sessions to those who think exercise isn't for them! We specialise in helping people with poor mental health, long term health conditions, disabilities and those preparing for hospital treatment become more active. We are a registered charity, affiliated with England Athletics and have been providing our services for 6 years. At the MileShyClub, no one gets left behind.
(Club founder Jane Dennison, currently works with Ben Andrews as Service Manager for the Salford based service Empower You which helps disabled people in Salford and Trafford get active. She has had training with Salford CVS in the past and recently connected with community connectors Maggie Lister, Caroline Lindsay and Charlene about MileShyClub plans to launch 3 beginner running and walking clubs in Monton, Worley and MediaCity in September this year. We are interested in applying for funding to support this venture and would be grateful for your time considering our application).
