Organisation description: FoodCycle is a national charity, based upon the simple idea that food waste and food poverty should not co-exist and that something powerful can be achieved through eating together. Every week, we open our doors and give a warm welcome to 1200 guests to enjoy a tasty and nutritious three-course meal in their local community.
Our aims are:
To relieve food poverty by providing nutritious meals for those in need.
To reduce social isolation by serving three-course, sit-down, communal meals in a friendly, supportive and safe environment;
To reduce food waste by reclaiming as much as 2 tonnes of surplus food per week and transforming it into meals;
To build strong, resilient communities by encouraging volunteers and guests to dine together and create strong support networks
We have two Projects in Salford. FoodCycle Langworthy Cornerstone which cooks on a Tuesday from 4pm and serves at 6pm
and The Angel Centre which cooks from 4pm on a Wednesday and serves at 6.30pm.
Our projects are powered by local volunteers whom we train. O our projects go further than providing just food: we create a safe, welcoming environment where lasting friendships are made and strong support networks are built.
