Organisation description: We are the Monton Village Community Association (MVCA). A group of volunteers who work together to keep Monton and the local Community, involved, safe and inclusive.
Members of MVCA work to improve the environment in Monton Village e.g. the Gardening Group maintain and plant the flowerbeds on the Green, and do weekly litter picks and on the Green and along the canal. We raise money for things like the Shackleton kids playground, new paths on the Green, the village noticeboard, the restoration of the veterans shelter and more. Any money we make from fund raising is put right back into the local community.
We aim to be inclusive for all. We are there for support as well as projects. We work closely with other local communities to learn and pull together to help each other. We plan to extend our Association to surrounding communities.
We rely on the support of local residents and businesses to do what we do.
MVCA meetings provide a way for members to raise problems or suggestions to improve the area, which we then take to Salford Council where appropriate.
We also organise a full inclusive Christmas event including a visit from Santa with presents for children, Christmas Carols, festive food and drink and seasonal games and entertainment. Not to mention the Christmas lights and a lighted Christmas tree during the festive season. Something for all to enjoy, at a minimal cost.
We maintain the website, keeping you up to date with local news and events and providing a directory of local organisations and businesses; plus the forum where you can chat to other residents.
We aim to develop Monton's reputation as an attractive community, including the holding of festivals, fundraisers, and other social events.
We aim to seek ways of developing the economic viability of businesses in the Monton area, for the benefit and well-being of the whole community.
We aim to improve local amenities in Monton for the benefit of all the wider community and all who visit it.
We are, and plan to stay, a Not-For-Profit Organisation with all proceeds invested in the local community
Special note shall be paid to the importance of inclusivity of all ages, backgrounds and disabilities
