Emergency Response

What is an Emergency

The Civil Contingencies Act 2004 defines an emergency as: “An event or situation which threatens serious damage to human welfare in a place in the UK, the environment of a place in the UK, or war or terrorism which threatens serious damage to the security of the UK”

Role of Salford CVS in an emergency

In an emergency such as flooding, a terror threat or threat to welfare such as during the Covid pandemic, Salford CVS on behalf of Salford City Council mobilise VCSE organisations, volunteers and set up rest centres for people who may be displaced from their homes and work with our emergency service partners to manage the situation.

We are also an integral part of Salford’s Local Resilience Forum working on planning and preparedness for emergencies without public sector partners.
