Who do you work with?: Adult offenders and ex-offenders and their families, Carers, Children (aged 0 - 5), Children (aged 6-11), Children & young people with disabilities, Faith communities, Families and/or parents, Homeless people, Learning disabilities (people with), Lone parents, Long-term/chronic illness (people with), Looked after children, Low income (people on), Men, Mental health problems (people with), Older people, Physical disabilities (people with), Sensory impairment (people with), Substance misusers (drugs/alcohol), Tenants and residents, Unemployed people, Voluntary and community groups, Volunteers, Women, , Young offenders
Organisation description: In recognition of the contribution made by ex-service personnel, we wish to foster an environment of wellbeing and shared experiences and therefore we offer a ‘safe haven’ to veterans and their families. We offer emotional and practical support, information and an ongoing camaraderie for those, and by those, who share experiences of both war and peace. We offer a number of services such as a Breakfast club, Befriending, Home visiting, property maintenance, Ladies group, Boxing club group and Radio Programme - Military Matters and will be adding to these as we expand. We have ongoing events and celebrations throughout the year and are supported by Salford City Council.
Supporting other voluntary and community organisations: Networks and partnerships, Volunteering, Other
Other support description: We will support individual volunteers or organisation who would like us to support their volunteers for example through befriending. We will support and mentor young people who wish to engage in volunteering opportunities such as to attain their Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme or similar schemes and work with local schools to provide talks on military history and specific events such as Gallipolli, WWII etc. - we work through a 7 day week
What are your opening days and times, and when is your venue and meeting space available?: Breakfast Club - 9am - 12noon every Saturday at St. Thomas's Church, Pendleton (Pendleton church)
Ladies Group meet at the Agnes Hopkins Centre, Clarendon Road, Swinton on the first Tuesday of each month 3pm - 5pm
Military Matters and Salford Armed Forces Radio Programme - 10am- 12pm first Saturday of each month on Salford City Radio 94.4fm and World Wide on line
