Helping hands, a social enterprise set up by the people of Salford, has been delivering handy persons services for over 15 years. Seven year ago it won Salford City Council`s tender to run handy persons citywide and it was employing five staff.Since then it has been driving up standards and expectations and has regained the contract. it now employees 14 handy persons and six administration and management staff and runs from premises in central. Many elements of the service are provided free to those who qualify (6000 jobs per year) and commercial activity undertaken by the organisation.
