Organisation description: Tindall Street Allotments is based in Eccles and managed by a Committee and Trustees on behalf of Salford City Council – we are known as Tindall Street Allotment Group (TSAG). Our aims (taken from our constitution) include:
- To develop a thriving community asset for the cultivation of plants and produce and raise the profile of the TSAG site as a valued Greenspace in order to safeguard the future of the site for existing members and future generations.
- To promote community engagement, education and healthy living through the activities of allotment gardening and work with the local community and established groups and organisations within the VCSE (Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise) sector.
The main site consists of private allotments however we have communal areas and community growing spaces. We want to engage with and support our local community and promote health and wellbeing through gardening across Salford. We also want to protect and safeguard wildlife on site and increase local biodiversity. We already work with some partners and groups who have dedicated spaces on site, including Salford Cancer Gardening Support Group, Cromwell House, Incredible Education, Salford Incredible Edible and the Health Improvement Service Volunteers as well as others. We invite groups to get in touch if we can support their aims by offering them spaces to grow.
