Organisation description: Bnei Melochim was established during the period immediately following the Covid-19 Pandemic, to address a gaping gap in supportive provisions and culturally appropriate after-school activities for Jewish Teenage boys within the local area of Salford, Manchester. Since we operate in a very low-income area, in a local authority area ranked 18th most deprived out of 317, the increasing financial strain the national rise in living costs imposes on their already hard-pressed, (and typically large) families, which comes in addition to the lingering negative impact COVID-19 has had on the local Jewish boys, they are at great risk of severe mental and physical health issues. We are constantly refining and updating our provisions to adequately address the needs of all our members, and specifically those who suffer with bereavement, isolation, anxiety, poor self-care, obesity, and are therefore at greater risk of becoming involved in crime, self-harm, suicide, and/or drug and alcohol abuse. We currently deliver to our 70 members:
- Nightly after school club where the boys have free access to attractive indoor and outdoor sports games, physical activity with our gym equipment,
- Bi-monthly outdoor trips including canoeing, biking, hiking, golf etc.
- Bi-yearly overnight trips.
