Organisation description: 1520 Community Support will carry on its activities for the benefit of the community, or a section of the community, namely individuals and families facing challenging circumstances and requiring supported accommodation services in the Salford area.
The company recognises that certain segments of the Salford population may struggle with issues such as lack of independent living skills, domestic abuse, lack of access to vital services, housing insecurity, difficulties attending important activities/appointments, unemployment/underemployment, and unhealthy lifestyles. These vulnerabilities can create significant barriers to living with stability, dignity and fulfilment.
To address these needs, the company will offer a holistic supported accommodation program tailored to empower and uplift residents of Salford. Core services will include training in independent living skills such as budgeting, housekeeping and self-care to facilitate greater self-sufficiency. Critically, comprehensive domestic abuse support services will be available to those impacted by this traumatic experience.
The program will also provide active referrals and signposting to connect residents with other community services and resources they may require. Assistance securing sustainable housing situations will further stabilise participants' living circumstances. Transportation support will ensure residents can attend health appointments, employment assistance programs, community events and other meaningful group activities.
Moreover, the company will prioritise promoting healthy lifestyles through education and facilitating access to nutritious food, exercise opportunities and other wellness resources. Employment counselling and job search assistance will empower economic self-sufficiency.
In offering this robust range of supported accommodation services, the company aims to uplift vulnerable Salford residents, bolster their autonomy and independence, and foster greater community engagement, wellbeing, and life satisfaction.
