Organisation description: The Society's objectives are to restore, reconstruct, preserve, maintain and improve the Manchester Bolton & Bury Canal from Nob End, Little Lever to the River Irwell in Salford, to Church Wharf in Bolton, and to Bury Bridges in Bury.
We work with local partners and stakeholders in the communities along the line of the canal to achieve these aims.
We hold guided walks, art and cultural events to promote awareness of the canal.
We work with local schools to meet their curriculum requirements for pupils to understand their local heritage.
We work with restoration partners (which includes Salford Council) to apply for funding to restore and interpret the canal heritage.
We promote the environmental benefits of blue / green habitats along the canal to deliver health and wellbeing improvements for residents.
