Organisation description: Yesoid's youth mentoring club is the go to organisation for boys and teens . Our goal is to empower the youths from the ultra orthodox Jewish community in North Manchester who do not have access to mainstream services due to religious and cultural sensitivities. Our team of professionals can provide assessments, individual mentoring, and referrals. Our aim is to help children and their families build healthy, successful and joyous lives.
We provide individual mentorships to youths aged 11 -20, we provide training to volunteer mentors, as well as support for parents. Please read below for an outline of our services
We operate from our centre located close to the community where we are fortunate to have a complex of lovely furnished rooms with games and , where youths can spend individual time and connect with their mentor. We have a conference room for training purposes and a well kitted out kitchen area for drinks etc. Mentors use our excusive online booking system to book their time slot.
Referrals come from schools, word of mouth, and from professionals.
Generally, we operate in the following way: Intake. Case Logging. Supervision. Training/group supervision.
Intake.
Every new referral requires an intake meeting with parent/s (approx 45 min). Parents are made clear what the mentoring programme is, and their expectations managed.
Parents will also be offered help with referrals to therapists or clinical psychologists, other relevant community services etc. They then sign the agreements made.
Case Logging.
Every enquiry/mentee gets logged onto a confidential database. Every supervision session gets logged too.
Supervision.
All mentors attend professional supervision every 6 weeks, where the supervisor writes a brief update and highlights to the coordinator any potential concerns with the mentor. The supervisor will be responsible for guiding the mentor how to move forward and when relevant, to make the coordinator aware if he recommends another intervention. Parents will then be updated and informed.
Training/group supervision
We have monthly group supervision and occasional further advanced training.
