Organisation description: Chaverim is a voluntary organisation that provides emergency help for community members 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It was established around 15 years ago to provide swift assistance to community members that find themselves in a crisis and need help urgently. Chaverim is a crisis response and prevention volunteer network. Volunteers receive professional training and are provided with the tools and kits to be able to dispense quick responses to people who find themselves in a critical and often dangerous situation.
Focus is upon ensuring that vulnerable people, e.g. single-parents, young families, disadvantaged families and the like, will never feel abandoned when they are aware that they have people upon whom they can rely in emergencies.
Following are additional activities carried out by Chaverim:
1. Car recovery services. This can include a child who is locked in a car during a hot day and his life is in imminent danger, a child locked in a bedroom, a burst water pipe in the middle of the night that needs to be temporarily fixed in order to prevent serious damage, and other
emergency situations.
2. Unfortunately, a considerable number of members of our community are living below the poverty line, i.e. they are unable to afford the cost of a consultation with a professional to advise them how to cope with their problems. These people lack the ability to manage their own affairs and are often on the verge of a breakdown, requiring emergency treatment until a satisfactory alternative is found.
3. Chaverim is serving a community where many of its members are facing difficult financial issues and challenging problems. When they reach a crisis, their emotional state is further compounded by their current state of affairs that prevents them from having professional treatment.
In summation, the Chaverim project's objective is to strengthen relationships across the community and provide fast and efficient emergency help at times of crisis. Chaverim unites the community by sharing skills and talents and encourages people to feel part of a compassionate, caring society. Chaverim volunteers provide an excellent model of humanitarian benevolence and altruism towards the community members, thereby disseminating their influence on other would-be volunteers.
In addition, volunteers are able to take advantage of their voluntary work by utilizing their training towards obtaining a lucrative livelihood from the experience that they have gained throughout their period of volunteer membership with Chaverim.
Chaverim also greatly contributes towards increasing the quality of our community with the knowledge that there are always good and caring Samaritans that are available in times of crisis and emergency.
Chaverim Manchester is a volunteer-led organization that provides support to those in need, including the elderly, vulnerable, and isolated members of the Jewish community. We operate a range of services, including transportation, home visits, and emergency response. Our volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that those in need receive the assistance and care they require. Salford CVS would greatly assist Chaverim Manchester in our efforts to provide vital support to the community. With your help, we can expand our services and reach even more people in need. We believe that the work we do is crucial in supporting those in need, and we are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of our community members. We are grateful for any support you can provide and look forward to continuing to work together to support those in need.
