Organisation description: SSFA has been organising and providing football activities at junior and secondary level children within the City for over 110 years and as such are one of the oldest and most respected Associations that exist nationally. We are run entirely by volunteers which consists of some retired teachers, coaches, parents and helpers who give up their time for the benefit of these children.
The Association has always prided itself on the fact that no child should pay to represent the city but recent events and raising costs nationally has made this more difficult. We have our general seasonal costs such as kits, training facilities and refereeing fees to meet as well as the upkeep of our traditional home pitch and changing facilities at Broughton Playing fields.
This year we have entered three age groups into local, regional and national competitions and are in the process of planning for the introduction of a ‘Girls City Team’ early next year. We have also tried to make representing the City of Salford as memorable as possible for our youngsters and so over many decades have taken part in several overseas tournaments and matches as far afield as the USA, South Africa and Australia. The impact these experiences have had on our youngsters has been immeasurable.
It is our intention to continue with our ambitious agenda and would welcome any support that you think you or your organisation can offer to help our cause.
