Organisation description: The Learning Collective CIC aims to address educational, social and wellbeing issues that migrants, refugees and asylum seekers face when adapting to a new life in the UK; primarily language learning, integration, health and well being, and employability. The majority of migrants and refugees who enter the UK have language and learning needs but frequently face barriers in accessing learning which negatively impacts their life in the UK. The barriers to education that they face are wideranging and include; lack of childcare, not meeting the criteria for funding, trauma, long waiting lists at Further Education colleges, and lack of confidence. These issues are widespread and with the recent arrival of Afghani and Ukranian people the need for additional support is growing. The Learning Collective aims to offer a range of language, well being and community courses in addition to volunteering and community projects.
