Organisation description: Oasis MediaCityUK believes no-one should be held back by poverty and disadvantage but instead everyone should be empowered to realise and reach their potential. We work with two of the most vulnerable communities in Greater Manchester supporting children, young people and adults on their journey out of poverty and into healthy, sustainable lives. We are a subsidiary of Oasis Community partnerships but operate as a local registered charity with local governance. Locally we work in partnership with the United Reformed Church and alongside Oasis Community Learning who are an Academy Trust.
Current activities include youth work, school holiday sports & lunch clubs, parent & toddler groups, support learning English, and a great deal more!
Our projects do not exist in isolation but instead through interconnection, seeking to transform the whole community with local people being at the heart of this movement. In practise this means that where the community see a gap in service or provision we help facilitate new initiatives with the community taking a lead through decision making and empowerment, in turn developing new skills.
