Organisation description: Yaran Northwest is a bilingual team of community health workers, psychologists, therapists and community connectors who are specialists in working with Farsi / Iranian communities. They have a well-established reach into the Farsi community, deep cultural understanding and a wide variety of skills in languages other than English.
We work with anyone age 18+ can access the service, Women, men, refugees and asylum seekers, people with disabilities and health conditions (including learning difficulties, mental health, drug & alcohol dependency, long term health conditions), People aged 50 and over as well as Black and Minority Ethnic communities.
The services we provide are as follows:
Counselling Service:
Individual counselling in Farsi or English.
Couples/family therapy counselling service.
Refugee and asylum seekers’ Therapy and recovery group programs
Mental health groups
Life skills programs
Wellbeing programs in different languages
Social inclusion drop-in sessions.
Community network groups maintenance program:
Advice service: Provide advice and support in Farsi/ Dari, Kurdish, Arabic, Turkish, Pashto and for refugees and asylum seekers, especially new arrivals.
Interpreting service:
This is offered across local organisations which require the use of bilingual professionals. We also offer to organise volunteering opportunities for those who are unemployed.
