Organisation description: Eccles CoderDojo is a free club for 7-17 year olds where young people can learn how to code, develop websites, apps, programs, games and much more in friendly and relaxed environment. CoderDojo makes development and learning to code a fun, sociable and awesome experience, putting a strong emphasis on open source and free software.
We meet every 2nd Saturday of the month where you'll find young people making music with Sonic Pi, using artistic skills designing characters and animations in Scratch, being creative building interactive stories with Twine, getting physical lighting up BBC Microbits and developing Python skills to make computer games and robots. Equipment is provided but limited so we ask young people who have their own fully charged laptop or Raspberry Pi to bring that with them.
The event is super informal, it's up to the young people which activities to work and some come along or bring friends. Under 12s need to be accompanied by an adult. The event takes place in the church hall and as the event runs over lunch time people can bring a packed lunch to eat in the kitchen area or head out various butty shops within 5 minutes walk towards Eccles centre.
