Organisation description: The Jewish Volunteering Network (JVN) was established in 2007 in London to promote and facilitate volunteering within UK charities. Initially we focused on volunteering within the Jewish community, the JVN is the leading faith based charity connecting volunteers to volunteering opportunities, and is the Jewish faith partner of NCVO/Volunteering England and GLV (Greater London Volunteering). We believe that everyone, irresepective of gender, religious practise or belief, physical or mental disability or age, should be able to volunteer and be assisted in so doing through training and ongoing support.
We are proud of the work we do beyond the Jewish community to encourage and actively support volunteering in wider society by sharing with others best practice and the practical lessons gleaned from our own experiences. We work with charities, volunteers, and a range of partners to harness the potential for volunteering by providing pathways, training and support. We collaborate with a wide range of organisations that in turn help many thousands of beneficiaries . Charity Volunteer Managers and Coordinators participate in our Managing Volunteers seminars and we now deliver a rolling programme of workshops and events throughout the year for charity professionals dealing with volunteers.
Since last year we now have a member of staff to develop our work in Manchester. There are over 30 volunteering opportunities in the Manchester on our website www.jvn.org.uk. Seminars and workshops in Manchester are listed on our website under 'future events'. For more information please contact lia@jvn.org.uk
