Organisation description: A bit about us - Sefton CVS’s HMP Risley Mentoring Project provides one to one support to newly released offenders through volunteer mentoring. The project supports offenders with identified issues and guides them in a positive way with an overall aim to instigate positive change and reduce the likelihood of re-offending. Volunteer mentors work with an agreed action plan to support positive resettlement and by signposting the ex-offender to relevant organisations; with the ultimate goal of reducing their offending behaviour. We operate within Greater Manchester and Cheshire and provide a monthly three day training course which covers safeguarding, understanding the needs of the ex-offender, boundaries, mentoring and communication skills and the Criminal Justice System.
