Organisation description: Royal Voluntary Service is a volunteer organisation established in 1938. It aims to enrich the lives of older people and their families across Britain by creating a society where everyone feels valued and involved whatever their age by providing practical solutions to the everyday problems of loneliness and isolation.
Our 35,000 volunteers help older people stay active, independent and able to continue to contribute to society. They do this by providing practical and emotional help where and when it’s needed, supporting older people from all communities and backgrounds.
Each month our volunteers help over 100,000 older people, and every year we deliver two million meals; undertake around 90,000 journeys to hospital and GP appointments, to the shops or into town; and deliver 134,000 books through our 400 Home Library Services.
