Computer Skills - An Introduction EDCL-BCS Level 1

The aim of this course is
To improve your computer confidence.

This course will help you to
• Understand IT Security (including how to keep data secure, how to deal with spam and security issues such as passwords,  backing up and virus protection)

• Understand IT fundamentals (including how to manage files, folders and print options, and health and safety issues)

• Use the Internet and Email (including how to search for information, how to save or print a web page, how to organise your email and to add contact details to an address book)

Who should attend?
Staff, volunteers and trustees who are over 19, employed/self-employed or volunteering and have been an EU resident for the last 3 years. You must have used a computer before and have a basic knowledge of Microsoft applications.

If this is a paid course, you don’t need to pay online – we will post an invoice out to you and you will receive a 10% discount for booking online. If you have a training voucher please add details to the 'Additional Information' box and we will apply this discount to your invoice.

If you don’t know your Membership rate you can still register and someone from our Admin Team will contact you to confirm your payment rate.

Once you have registered, you will immediately receive an email to confirm your registration and a second email confirming your booking will be sent one week prior to the training date.

Assessment and certification
On successfully completing the required modules you will be awarded BCS L1 ITQ Award and ECDL Essentials Certificate. You may also be eligible to progress to Level 2.

Other information
You have 4 weeks to complete this training. You need to attend the introductory session on Thursday 20thJanuary 2011 and the three test sessions listed below.

Learning for the tests can be done at the learning centre in Eccles (with staff support) or at any other internet enabled computer at a pace to suit you. You have the opportunity to repeat the tests more than once.
