Broughton Trust is about to launch an advocacy training programme across the city. The aim is to develop advocacy services within both organisations and communities, through a bespoke programme of accredited qualifications and flexible learning ranging from The Open Awards Badge of Excellence to a full Level 3 Advocacy Qualification.
The concept of the programme is for advocacy to be recognised and utilised across the city as an enhancement to existing services.
Reasons for having inhouse advocates:
- Creates a platform for concerns and issues to be heard.
- Improves communication with service users.
- Enriches organisations company reputation.
- De-escalates potential hostile situations.
- Cost efficient.
- Effective in maintaining trust and familiarity.
- Enhances the service users experience by providing more options and flexibility.
- Comfort zone, the service user feels secure thus promoting meaningful and appropriate engagement with statutory agencies.
In summary, in-house advocacy services can improve client satisfaction, increase support for your service users and ultimately create better chances to mutually resolved issues.
You may have somebody within your organisation who would benefit from this programme by learning new skills or enhancing existing skills
The programme is designed to train staff and/or volunteers to be advocates. The programme will also be open to residents and service users in our communities, with the aim of increasing individuals own ability to advocate for themselves and others to improve their personal wellbeing and that of their communities by becoming active citizens.
