About University of Manchester Students' Union

Placed at the heart of campus, the University of Manchester Students’ Union is the hub of student life. We understand better than anyone that student life isn’t just about studying. It’s about supporting change; helping students make friends, gain vital skills for life, enjoy new experiences and campaign on something important.

We’ve been facilitating that for the last 155 years. As the largest Students’ Union in the country, our mission is to be the voice of students at Manchester, effecting change and enriching student life together.

Our vision is for all students to feel part of the Manchester community where they can develop, prepare for their future and can make a difference in the world around them.

We promise;

  • We’ll help you make the most of your time as a student
  • We’ll help you get the best future
  • We’ll help you discover and connect with Manchester
  • We’ll help you understand and change the world around you
  • We’ll build a truly outstanding Students’ Union

Staff Team :

We employ around 80 permanent staff to support a wide range of services to our student membership, as well as offering opportunities for approx. 200 student staff across our retail, catering and venues.

Liberation and diversity are a huge part of the core union values; we are a welcoming workplace always ensuring that we create an inclusive and open culture.

We welcome all applicants for all of our vacancies who possess the relevant skills & expertise, however, as black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) and disabled candidates are currently under-represented, we would particularly welcome applications from BAME and disabled applicants.
