On Wednesday 24th April, Age UK Salford unveiled a special anniversary window mural at their Head Office to commence the charity’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.
Age UK Salford turned 50 in November 2023, as one day isn’t enough to celebrate this significant milestone, the charity will commemorate it throughout 2024 and round-off with a community conference in November.

Salford Community Leisure are hosting Free Workshops which will be delivered by Street Games. 'Mental Health Conversations' will explore the basics of what Mental Health is, what good Mental Health looks like and some of the resource tools the clubs/groups can use to support young people and adults with Mental Health issues. With an estimated 526,000 people in Greater Manchester living with disabilities, and research suggesting 45% face forms of digital exclusion, a new resource has been launched to help disabled people in Greater Manchester get online and access opportunities in the digital world.
Greater Manchester Equality Alliance (GM=EqAl) is a coalition of over 30 individuals drawn from a wide range of communities of experience and identity, and VCFSE organisations across Greater Manchester. This course will provide participants with a basic understanding of the Family Partnership practice model that is being rolled out across Salford Children’s Social care. Our Early Help colleagues have been using this practice model for some years, and we chose to adopt the same model to ensure consistency across Salford.
On Thursday 14th September 2023, Salford CVS hosted an event at The Lowry Theatre, Salford Quays, to showcase and highlight the impact of the Third Sector Fund on Salford’s VCSE sector, their communities, and their health.
We are delighted to announce that Special Educational Needs Families Support Group (SENFSG) have received the King’s Award for Voluntary Service. This is the highest award a local voluntary group can receive in the UK and is equivalent to an MBE. SENFSG are a grassroots, needs-led, unique and independent network, of impassioned people that provide interventions guidance and practical help.
Cancer is a subject that doesn’t bear thinking about and yet 900,000+ people in the workforce are preoccupied with it. They are living with cancer and 28% of them say they have had little or no support from their employer. (Source Macmillan Cancer Support - The Forgotten C)

Vaccinations will once again be available to people at highest risk of mpox (formerly known as monkeypox) following a small increase in the number of cases in Greater Manchester. Vaccination has played a crucial role in protecting people and reducing the number of people infected. Case numbers have remained low since December 2022.

In 2022, Salford CVS awarded grants of up to £25,000 to VCSE sector organisations in Salford to invest in resources that would continue to benefit their organisation and community for many years to come, or to pilot an innovative project linked to Salford’s Great Eight.
START, the esteemed mental health charity in Salford, is delighted to unveil its forthcoming Vigil & Procession of Remembrance in commemoration of World Suicide Prevention Day. This profound event, is being run by its award-winning initiative 'Reach Out; Start to End Suicide' and with the support of the Salford Integrated Care Partnership, has garnered the backing Living Experience Advocate, Melanie Anderton.
In April 2022 the Brain and Spinal Injury Centre (BASIC) were awarded a Big Ideas Fund grant by Salford CVS (supported by NHS Salford ICP) to purchase a wheelchair accessible electric vehicle to provide low-cost transport for their clients. This proved to be a great success in enabling local people to access therapeutic services at BASIC, hospital appointments and social activities.
Salford City Council has committed over £3 million to provide essential support to residents, families and young people facing challenges with the rising cost of living.
The funds come from a one-off refund of £3.203 million from the Greater Manchester Waste Levy and will form part of our on-going commitment to help address the economic hardships experienced by some of our households in the city.
